Course Goal
To ensure participants demonstrate high competency in performing common clinical procedures and skills required for safe and effective patient care.
Objectives
- Manage subungual hematoma and ingrown nail drainage/excision
- Perform basic gynecology procedures (pelvic examinations; collect and interpret Pap smears, insert intrauterine devices)
- Perform suturing and laceration repair
- Administer injectable medications via various routes
- Perform peripheral intravenous insertion for adults and children
- Insert and remove indwelling catheters (male and female) and nasogastric tubes
- Perform ear exam, remove ear wax and foreign bodies
- Control epistaxis with nasal packing
