Course Overview
The Pre-Hospital Care in Sports Injuries Course focuses on enhancing pre-hospital health care provider knowledge & skills through a comprehensive educational activity delivered using a learner-centered approach, Interactive lecture, Case-Based Discussion & Hands-On Practice to meet the high standards of care across different Sports events, grounded in evidence and best practices.
Course Objectives:
- Demonstrate the appropriate management of common sports-related blunt injuries.
- Describe the heat exhaustion & heat stroke signs, treatments during sports.
- Summarize the signs & symptoms of concussion, as well as the ideal approach health care provider should take.
- Perform a professional approach to sudden cardiac arrest in sport, including recognition, resuscitation, & rapid intervention.
- Articulate the proper method to stabilize mild trauma, such as a shoulder dislocation.
- Explain the appropriate assessment & management of acute MSK emergencies such as muscle & ligament rupture in prehospital settings.
